We finally lived to see the first festival of experimental film, video and new media happen in our country too. (Programata, 21 April 2005)

The xfilm festival for film, video and new media may not be the first event of this type, but it is by far the mostlarge-scale event. (Dnevnik, 24 April 2005)

The objectives of the festival are to offer the Bulgarian audience a different approach from anything screened in the movie theatres. The titles [shown there] are dominated mainly by commercial Hollywood productions. Alternative film has been forced to exist in the peripheries, and in Bulgaria there are next to no opportunities for its regular presentation. Which is precisely why the festival aims at creating opportunities for the systematic, regular, focussed presentation of independent, alternative, experimental audiovisual and cinematographic works.
